A Bard’s Tale IV looks beautiful as InXile hits Kickstarter again

InExile has become something of a guru when it comes to reviving classic RPG franchises. It first scored big with Wasteland 2 a couple of years ago, and it currently has the biggest video game Kickstarter campaign of all time in Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Up next? A Bard’s Tale 4! Why not?

The classic dungeon crawler is about to get an official sequel thanks to InExile and its recurring success on Kickstarter. Set with a goal of $1.25 million, a budget that InExile promises to match, the game has already pulled in $1 million after just a few hours. We’ll see just how high the ceiling gets from this one over the coming month.

Why are gamers donating in droves to support this one? Well, apart from A Bard’s Tale being a popular cult-classic, the trailer for this new entry is just absolutely gorgeous. InExile turned to the Unreal Engine 4 to power A Bard’s Tale IV, and the results are jaw-dropping. Maybe some of that $1.25 million can go to fixing the hole in my floor.

The Gaelic music InExile has produced also affects the gameplay, which is a nice twist. A Bard’s Tale IV will be released for the PC, Mac, and Linux after it is inevitably successful. Put this one on your radar, folks.
