Gears of War studio rebrands itself as The Coalition, talks future

Black Tusk Studios, the heir of Gears of War development, has a brand new company name. From here on out, the Vancouver-based Microsoft studio will be referred to as The Coalition.

Studio Boss Rod Fergusson has addressed the name change in a video on the company’s official YouTube page.

The Coalition speaks to who we are as a team, and what it is we’re working on. A coalition is a team of diverse individuals working together for a common purpose, a concept that we feel describes our studio quite well.

Currently, the company is working on a new entry in the Gears of War franchise, which has been rather silent since 2013’s Gears of War: Judgment.

Fergusson himself once worked at former Gears of War studio Epic Games and acted as Executive Producer of the first three Gears of War games as well as pitched in for the Infinity Blade games. He is returning to the Gears of War franchise after brief stint with Irrational Games to help smooth out BioShock Infinite during its final stretch. He knows what he is doing, and his series is in good hands.

He has teased that the new Gears of War will be at E3, and I can only assume that he will be as well. Any hopes, thoughts, and dreams for the next Gears of War game?
