The National Football League and Yahoo on Wednesday announced a new partnership under which Yahoo will stream a free NFL game to the world. It’s not the first time a game has been streamed for free — the Super Bowl was free last year — but it is the first time that a game has been streamed globally at no cost to millions of viewers.

The NFL said Yahoo will stream the game between the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 25 to Tumblr, Yahoo Screen, Yahoo Sports and Yahoo. The game isn’t a particularly exciting one, and it’s being played in London instead of a home stadium for either team, but it’s a start. Maybe Yahoo wants to make sure it has the capabilities to provide live content to such a large audience before moving onto something bigger.

Also, since it’s being played in London, the game will be played early in the day Eastern time. That means Bills and Jaguars fans will need to be up and ready to cheer at 9:30 a.m. Guess there won’t be much of a tailgate party.
