Galaxy Tab S2 leaks to reveal a crazy-thin design

by Jacob Kleinman | June 3, 2015

When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab S last year, its key feature was a high-definition AMOLED display, but it looks like the second-generation tablet could put an emphasis on design instead. The device passed through certification in both the U.S. and China this week, revealing a super-thin design with otherwise pretty similar specs.

Based on its TENAA filing, the Galaxy Tab S2 will feature an 8-inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and a thickness that measures in at just 5.4mm. Other specs include an unnamed octa-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 3-megapixel front-facing shooter. Samsung appears to have submitted a 9.7-inch version to the FCC, though the filing is short on details.

It’s been about a full year since Samsung unveiled the original Galaxy Tab S, so a pair of sequel tablets likely aren’t too far away. We’ll be on the lookout for any more news concerning the Galaxy Tab S2, and at this point the device seems to be cleared for landing.
