The folks at Flexibits make two of our favorite calendar apps — Fantastical 2 for iPhone and Fantastical 2 for Yosemite— and, on Wednesday, the former gained support for the Apple Watch.
You’ll be able to add Fantastical 2 to your Apple Watch once you’ve updated your iPhone to Fantastical version 2.3. We’ve been running an early version for a few days now and love a lot of what it offers — particularly the reminders integration, and an easy-to-read user interface that allows you to scroll through upcoming appointments. There’s also support for Glances, which shows a timeline of the day ahead and a small notification for each upcoming appointment.
We’ve already ditched the Apple Watch default calendar application in favor of Fantastical 2 for the Apple Watch, largely because the user interface is easy to use and much friendlier on the eyes. It also loads quickly, and the Glances support lets us quickly check an upcoming appointment and then get on with our lives.
You can also use Force Touch to easily add events using the same natural language support that makes the desktop and mobile apps so great. So, for example, you can say “Get lunch with Sean on Thursday at noon,” and it’ll add that to your calendar.
Fantastical 2 is available for $4.99 from the iTunes App Store, so you’ll need to buy that app in order to take advantage of the Apple Watch support.
