Motorola was recently spotted testing a few different high-end smartphones, but the company may be working on a cheaper handset as well. A new device with the model number XT1565 recently passed through Bluetooth certification, though the filing didn’t reveal much about the actual phone.
Still that model number does say something, especially when compared to recent leaked Motorola devices with model numbers like XT1578 and XT1585. Based on those gadgets, which both reportedly pack Quad HD displays and high-end Snapdragon processors, we’re guessing the XT1565 could be more of a mid-range option. It might even be the third-generation Moto G that leaked out earlier this month with a 5-inch or 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 610 processor and 2GB of RAM.
It’s also possible this might be a new Moto E, though that seems unlikely considering Motorola just unveiled its second-generation model back in February. We may even be looking at another DROID device, which could be unveiled by Verizon later this year.
Either way, mounting evidence suggests that Motorola has a small arsenal of new phones in its pipeline. When exactly they begin to trickle out remains to be seen, but we can’t wait to find out what the company has planned.
