LYCOS (yes, that LYCOS) to intro wearables on June 4

LYCOS, a search engine and Web portal spawned from the primordial ooze of Early Internet, is holding an event on Thursday, June 4, to announce a new wearable lineup known as LYCOS Life. No, really.

The company says its family of devices is so significant that it feels it’s “on the brink of a revolution” that will “[impact] the wearable tech market.”

It seems unusual for a company most people don’t even remember is suddenly going to thrust itself into a very saturated market, but we’ll reserve judgement until we actually see what it is LYCOS has to talk about.

“LYCOS Life shakes up the wearable tech market by transforming everyday products into futuristic, state of the art accessories with the power to impact all facets of your daily life,” the invite reads. “LYCOS Life increases personal security, innovates the way you share messages, enhances your workout and can improve many other aspects of your Life.”

The event takes place this Thursday at 9 a.m. PDT. We will, of course, keep you informed of the news. LYCOS has our attention, now it’s just a matter of making a lasting impression. Ball is in your court, AltaVista.
