Man, is it possible to ever get sick of that theme song? I didn’t think so. The Dragon Quest VIII remake for the Nintendo 3DS has officially shown off its colors in motion for the first time with an official trailer from the Nintendo Direct over the weekend, and you guessed it… Its anthem blasts away with the same pride it has paraded for the last 30 years.
I love this series so much.
I was originally hard on the graphics of this Nintendo 3DS remake, but now that I see it in motion, I’m a bit more forgiving. No, it’s not perfect like a solid HD port on the PlayStation 3 would have been, but it’s not entirely broken either, playing to the console’s horsepower without sacrificing much of Dragon Quest’s iconic charm. I guess always wait for the trailer, folks.
Dragon Quest VIII 3D will be released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on Aug. 27. No word on an American release, but here’s to hoping that Square Enix finds it in its soul to bring it over. You know where I’m going with this, but if this proved to be a success in America, maybe Square Enix would consider Dragon Quest VII as well.
