Just a few hours ago, rumor had it that Google has plans to introduce Android Pay during its Google I/O 2015 developer conference on Thursday. That rumor is quickly becoming confirmed. A Google I/O 2015 attendee for Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, Carolina Milanese, published the above photo after entering the event.
It clearly shows the Android logo and the word “Pay,” basically confirming that Android Pay will be discussed in some fashion on Thursday. The New York Times, in an earlier report, said that Android Pay will offer a rewards program and will allow Android users to make purchases with their smartphones, probably in a similar fashion to Apple Pay.
The opening Google I/O keynote kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Pacific, and TechnoBuffalo is on the scene to report everything that’s unveiled. We’ll be back soon with more details on Android Pay when it’s discussed.
