Star Ocean 5 trademarked, E3 appearance hinted at

I come bearing gifts of two great revelations regarding Square Enix’s upcoming Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. The action RPG’s subtitle has been trademarked in Europe, almost confirming that a localization is indeed in the works.

If this trademark pans out, it will be the first Star Ocean release in the Western world in about six years. The first Star Ocean release in Japan as well for that matter.

The trademark isn’t the only hint of a Western appearance either. Twitter posts by Character Designer Akira “Akiman” Yasuda, the man responsible for that green haired witch’s crazy outfit, pretty much confirms that the game will make an appearance at E3 this year.

“This year is really busy as we’re turning towards the game show. It’s busy, but it’s been terribly long [since we were last at a game show]. By the way, we are preparing images for use at E3.”

Excellent news. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness was pretty high on our list of games we wanted to see during Square Enix’s presentation, so that’s one we can check off the list and not worry about! I haven’t particularly enjoyed a game in the series since Star Ocean: The Second Story on the original PlayStation, but screenshots so far suggest that this latest entry could be something special. Can’t wait to see more.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness will be released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Stay tuned for E3 for more details.
