Pebble price drops to $89 for its original smartwatch

Pebble is almost ready to start shipping its new Time smartwatch, but for now the company is offering a pretty sweet deal on its original wearable device. This Friday and Saturday you can pick up the Pebble or Pebble Steel for 20 percent off.

That drops the price of the plastic Pebble to just $89. The metal version is available now for $149, though you’ll have to pay $20 extra for a matching metal strap. Both models offer long battery life, and the company’s already promised an update to its new Timeline operating system.

There are few things missing from the original Pebble compared to the Pebble Time. The new smartwatch features a colorful e-paper display, a built-in microphone for voice controls and a significantly thinner design. It’s a pretty nice device, though you’ll have to pay $199 to pick one up when it hits stores. In the meantime the original Pebble is a pretty good option, and at $89 you can definitely chalk it up to an impulse purchase.
