Creepy new trailer for del Toro’s ‘Crimson Peak’ released

A lengthy trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak was released on Wednesday, giving us a deeper (and creepier) look at one of the movie’s central characters: the house. That might sound like a horror movie cliche, but put the familiar trope in the hands of a visionary like del Toro, and you’re liable to get some terrifying results.

It’s quite obvious that Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) and Lady Lucille Sharpe (Jessica Chastain) know much more about the house than they’re letting on. What that secret is is unclear; the two are either responsible for the horrors taking place inside the decrepit mansion, or they know who/what is. Whatever is going on, the evil spirits seem to have a keen interest in Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska), who says she has seen ghosts all her life.

In addition to the official theatrical trailer, an international trailer has also been released, so we’re getting double the trouble today. (It’s also fun to see how trailers for the same movie are tailored for different audiences.) Check them out below. Crimson Peak will hit theaters on Oct. 16, 2015.
