Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 has been officially confirmed, and Activision has released the first batch of screenshots. This might come off as a little nonsensical, but when I look at these, the original Mortal Kombat games come to mind.
No, the Hawkman is not ripping his rival skaters’ spines from their bodies, even though that would be pretty neat. It’s the character models! They look a little too lifelike, and they clash horribly with the artificial backgrounds, just like digitized actors from the SEGA Genesis days!
Maybe that’s just my sentimental brain playing tricks on me, but you can decide yourself from these first non-watermarked screenshots of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5. Tony Hawk, Nyjah Huston, Riley Hawk, Aaron Homoki, Ishod Wair, Leticia Bufoni, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Andrew Reynolds, Lizzie Armanto, and customizable avatars have all been confirmed to be playable characters, but I don’t know enough about professional skateboarding to tell who is who.
No release date has been announced yet, but GameInformer is expected to have more details in its next issue. We’ll let you know when we know.
