Netflix keeps turning out hit after hit, and its latest original series, Sense8, looks like another winner. Albeit one that’s a lot more daring than the streaming service has ever put out.
Directed by the Wachowskis, the show focuses on eight people who are inexplicably connected through a unique ability. These people are somehow reborn as “Sensate,” folks who are able to tap into the minds, skills and physical abilities of their seven other selves. Confusing, and weird, but just watch the video to get a better idea of what the show will be like.
Of course, these Sensate sufferers soon begin to be hunted by a group of what I assume are jealous zealots. I think this is the type of show that’s better if you know less going in, that way you discover what’s going on as the characters do. The Wachowskis haven’t really had a critical hit since The Matrix was released all the way back in 1999. Will Sense8 be a return to form?
The case includes Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Jamie Clayton, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Tina Desai, Doona Bae, Aml Ameen and Max Riemelt. You’ll be able to watch the show in its entirety beginning June 5.
“You are no longer just you.”
