Supergirl

Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, is being added to CBS’s 2015-2016 season. A series order of the superhero is coming to primetime TV, with the adaptation being handled by Greg Barlanti, a respected producer in Hollywood circles that works on shows such as Arrow and The Flash. Glee’s Melissa Benoist will don the superhero outfit when the show airs.

Born on Krypton, Kara Zor-El managed to evade the planet’s destruction and find her way to Earth, where her cousin also found refuge. But, unlike her cousin, Kara hid her powers, until finally embracing her capabilities at age 24. She essentially shares the same super powers as Superman, along with the same vulnerability to Kryptonite.

Other cast members include Mehcad Brooks, Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh and Jeremy Jordan. More details about the show are expected to be revealed during CBS’s annual upfront presentation next Wednesday.
