Ah, aiming down ironsights, one of the more granular subjects of debate for fans of shooters in gaming. Star Wars: Battlefront won’t offer the mechanic.
What is aiming down ironsights? This is the move where you hold, say, the left trigger in order to look down the top of the barrel of your rifle for enhanced aim. Classic Halo games don’t have this, for instance, while the Call of Duty series is famous for it.
In an interview with OXM for the June issue of the magazine, DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach concisely hammered out the news about the no ironsights feature for Star Wars: Battlefront.
“There are no ironsights in Star Wars, on the ordinary blasters…You have scopes on some rifles, but there are no ironsights.”
So, your standard blaster will likely be hip-fired with on-screen crosshairs, while longer range assault rifle and sniper rifle style blasters will feature scopes that players can look into.
What do you think, folks? What you like the ability to use ironsights? Or, do you prefer the more traditional method of crosshairs on the screen until using a scoped blaster?
