We were pretty bummed when Foursquare was split into Swarm and Foursquare. The former focuses on letting your friends know where you are while the other provides restaurant recommendations. Me? I stopped using both after that split, but maybe I’ll start to use Swarm again, thanks to a new update that delivers some of the old features I loved.
The company recently updated its iOS, Android and Windows Phone apps with a new focus on stickers, which you can earn and unlock as you check in to new places. There are 100 new stickers to unlock, in addition to “a lot of new challenges,” Foursquare said in a recent blog post. The stickers have their own home on a separate page where you can browse through the ones you’ve earned, and there’s even an option to show them off by adding them to check-ins, photos, and messages. Finally, Foursquare promises that it’s going to bring back Mayorships “soon,” and that current check-ins will apply whenever they hit. “Start conquering your neighborhood,” the company challenged.
You can find the latest Swarm update in your respective mobile app store now, and it also includes Apple Watch support for the iPhone.
