Samsung has begun rolling out the latest Android 5.0.2 update to its flagship Galaxy Tab 8.4 tablet. The software is currently reaching LTE versions of the device, and it brings lots of Lollipop features and improvements.
Recent reports have claimed a Galaxy Tab S2 is right around the corner, but before it arrives, Samsung is working hard to update its existing models. Wi-Fi-only versions of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 have already received Lollipop, and now the LTE-equipped models are getting it, too.
The updates for both devices are identical; they include all the features you would expect from a Lollipop upgrade, including Smart Lock, lock screen notifications, and improved multitasking. They also bring lots of TouchWiz improvements, like visual overhauls for many of Samsung’s own apps.
The latest release comes with build number T705ZHU1BOD3, and it’s available as an over-the-air download directly to your device, or via Samsung’s Kies applications for Mac and PC.
As always, it will take some time for this software to reach all markets. SamMobile reports it’s already reaching users in Hong Kong, but it could be several weeks (maybe even months) before it arrives in the U.S., Europe, and other countries.
