Project CARS launch trailer shows off features one last time

Project CARS is just a few days away. Bandai Namco and Slightly Mad Studios have released the game’s launch trailer to remind us once more of all the partially crowd-funded game’s many features.

Project CARS sports over 100 tracks, dynamic weather and time of day, gameplay running at 60 frames per second, and a pretty broad suite of social and multiplayer features.

About the only thing that doesn’t get a number in the trailer is the rather scant list of cars available in the game, which tops out just under 75 compared to the 200+ in Forza Motorsport 5, which was itself considered lacking at its 2013 release.

Even so, the sheer variety of race types, car types, and racing conditions should give it plenty of replay value, even if there aren’t seven different Mazda Miatas in the roster (or even one, really). If Slightly Mad’s racer can hit its other goals, we can probably look forward to a much beefier sequel a couple years down the line. For now, though, we have a new racer with a lot of possibility set to release in just a couple days.

Project CARS hits Steam on May 8 and then arrives on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One’s marketplaces and U.S. retail shelves May 12.
