It’s been a while, so let’s check in with my most anticipated game simmering away in my Kickstarter backlog, Hyper Light Drifter.
Indie development team Heart Machine has released a batch of animations that show off how development is coming along in the game’s Eastern region, “which is loaded with water, fire and angry poison flies.” The GIFs reveal a handful of the drifter’s explosive weapons like eyeball grenades and bazookas, and the results of them detonating in the middle of a gang of ghouls is oh so satisfying.
Heart Machine also released an original art that it used for a Creativity Corner article over at Polygon.
Hyper Light Drifter will be popping up at E3 as well, confirmed to be taking the big stage during the PC oriented press conference hosted by AMD. No doubt, Heart Machine’s pretty little game will be used as a highlight of the indie movement, and it will look far more fascinating than the big studio games that are designed to flaunt impressive hardware.
Hyper Light Drifter will be released for the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox One, PC, Max, Linux, and even the Ouya! It’s release date is listed as early 2015, but that time frame will soon be just a memory. I expect we will be getting news of a delay into the fall. I can live with that. Take your time, Heart Machine.
