Xbox Live’s Games with Gold for May is one big shrug

Microsoft has announced the games we can look forward to as part of the Games with Gold promotion on Xbox Live.

On the Xbox One side, Castlestorm: Definitive Edition will be available starting May 1, through the end of the month. Castlestorm pits you against an enemy castle using not just all the king’s horses and all the king’s men, but also ballistas and the like to break down the castle walls. As the definitive edition, this version includes a campaign, level editor, online multiplayer, and two expansions.

On the Xbox 360 side, we can look forward to Mafia II for the first half of the month, a 2010 open-world game set in post-war America. For the second half of the month, we’ll have access to F1 2013. If it wasn’t obvious from the name, this is a Formula 1 racing simulator.

Additionally, the Xbox One game Pool Nation‘s duration as a free game will be extended another month.

Sony’s games for this month are mostly indie games, but it’s also a great collection of some really neat titles. By comparison, there’s not much here to pull people in. Microsoft needs to try to pull in some bigger deals in the future if they want Games with Gold to be a selling point for Xbox Live. But still, they are free with the subscription, so make sure to download them while you can.
