I mean, yeah, it sounds plausible—at this point, there are numerous possibilities surrounding Zack Snyder’s next movie. But will Jared Leto’s Joker make a cameo appearance in the upcoming Batman v Superman film? That’s the word coming from sources speaking to Latino Review. It gets a little spoiler-y after this point, so be aware.
Leto’s more angsty teenage punk version of the Joker was only just revealed last week, and it seems his presence will be felt beyond his role in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. Latino Review claims the original plan didn’t call for a Joker cameo in Batman v Superman, but executives decided they wanted to add a flashback sequence of the villain doing some not so nice things to Robin.
If that wasn’t enough, it sounds like Ben Affleck’s Batman will also be appearing in Suicide Squad when it hits theaters on August 5, 2016. You know, just to prove that this whole DC universe is being built into one harmonious comic kingdom.
This supposed flashback will not only tell us what the Joker does to Robin, but how the Joker ended up behind bars. Without me completely spoiling what might happen, Latino Review cites a 1988 Batman comic story arc known as “A Death In the Family,” which could give some indication as to what happens to the Dark Knight’s sidekick.
We’re expecting a lot of big names to make an appearance in Batman v Superman, which is scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. Will Jared Leto be one of them? It sure sounds like it. If so, it’ll give us our first real indication of how the Oscar-winning actor will portray the famous criminal, who was last played by the late Heath Ledger.
