Developers not getting their Apple Watches early as promised

Some developers who were selected to order an Apple Watch with a guaranteed shipping date of April 28 are not getting their orders as early as promised. Many of those who purchased the device are still seeing the dreaded “Processing Items” status, with estimated delivery dates of mid-May.

Apple began contacting developers a week ago to give them the opportunity to purchase a 42mm Apple Watch Sport with a blue band that was “guaranteed to ship by April 28.” Those who were interested could apply to buy the device and Apple then selected an unknown number at random.

But according to an AppleInsider report, many of those developers are still waiting for their Apple Watch to ship.

Mo Bitar, an iOS developer in Chicago, still had a “Processing Items” status on Tuesday — which comes before “Preparing for Shipment” and, finally, “Shipped” — with an estimated delivery date between May 14 and May 20. Other developers reported the same delivery dates on Twitter.

“Has anyones expedited apple watch shipped yet?” tweeted @p0wer0on this morning. “My developer one hasn’t yet!” However, @TommoBedhair, a developer in the U.K., received his this morning.

It’s unclear what’s causing the delay, but we can only assume Apple is working hard to process these orders as quickly as possible. It also seems unlikely that those with a mid-May delivery estimate will actually be waiting that long, given that most Watch orders are shipping sooner than expected.

Nevertheless, it’s certainly frustrating for those who were promised their Apple Watch would be sent out no later than April 28.
