Airbnb unveiled new tablet-centric apps on Wednesday for iPad and Android. The redesigned service focuses on big images for larger screens, and it looks pretty great.
Launching the app quickly brings up the company’s animated logo, followed by a series of popular locations. From there you can swipe through different cities and apartments. The emphasis is always on big beautiful pictures, but specific details are just a tap away. Airbnb says it designed the new app to feel like digital magazine.
The company also notes that it already gets plenty of iPad traffic. Airbnb’s head of design Alex Schleifer told TechCrunch that about 12 percent of people access the service from an Apple tablet. Now there’s a specially designed app that can guide you through the experience.
We’re still not seeing the updated Airbnb app in either Apple’s App Store or Google Play, but it shouldn’t be too long before they arrive.
