The Alcatel’s Idol 3 will officially launch in May, but the Chinese company may already be gearing up for another new smartphone. An internal spec sheet leaked to TmoNews reveals plans for a fresh Android device headed to T-Mobile.
The alleged Alcatel Pop Astro offers low-end specs, suggesting it could be an extremely budget-friendly smartphone. It comes equipped with a 4.5-inch 960 x 540-pixel display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM and just 4GB of storage. It also offers Wi-Fi calling, 4G LTE and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
There’s no clear price listed in the new leak, though the device is described as “affordable” in T-Mobile’s document. The Pop Astro will also offer some sort of “Gesture Controls,” and “Live Filters” for tweaking your photos before you even take them.
It probably won’t be too long before Alcatel’s new phone pops up on T-Mobile’s website for sale, though we’re not expecting much fanfare for such an entry-level device. Still, if you’re looking for a decent Android phone at a low price, this might be worth hanging around for.
