SQUARE ENIX FINAL FANTASY VII

There you go, Square Enix! You wanna hang with Ubisoft and EA, you gotta get up on stage to make a statement about it. Show them who’s boss, not to mention who is the only company who can fill in the JRPG niche in such a big way.

Square Enix has announced that it will hold a press conference at E3 this year, marking the first time since I can remember seeing the company up on its own big stage. The conference is scheduled for June 16 at 9 AM Pacific, and it will be streamed on the company’s official Twitch and YouTube pages.

As for what we are going to see, Square Enix only gave us a tease.

“What news do we have in store? You’ll just have to wait and see.”

Nice jab, but that doesn’t stop me from speculating. Rise of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 3, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided are almost guaranteed to be there. We can also expect a whole bunch of information on Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Dragon Quest Heroes, and Kingdom Hearts III from its Japanese branch. And these are just the games that are confirmed for an American release.

I also speculate that we will be getting a few confirmations of games that will be localized into English. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness seems like a front-runner for that category, and Bravely Second: End Layer will probably show up. Maybe we will get lucky and Square Enix will confirm SaGa 2015 coming to North America, and, of course, Dragon Quest VII 3DS would be absolutely lovely, Square Enix.

I will never ever get sick of writing how much I want to play that game in English on my Nintendo 3DS.

As for new games? We are certain to bombarded with a bunch of mobile stuff with Mobius Final Fantasy definitely being among them. I’m going to go out on a limb and make a wild guess that Final Fantasy XII is going to show up in HD form as well, and to a lesser extent, maybe Dragon Quest VIII.

I’m also going to come out and say that a Final Fantasy VII remake is not going to be announced, so don’t get your hopes up.

What would you like to see at E3? My plate seems rather full, doesn’t it? Square Enix will join Bethesda, who is having its first press conference this year.
