Shovel Knight launches for PlayStation today, Xbox One next week

It’s shoveling time! Shovel Knight is one of our absolute favorite indie games ever, and it is about to become universally available across all traditional platforms. The PlayStation version should already be up and running as of writing, so be sure to check it out on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

This version supports cross-buy, so all three will be available, and the first week will even have it available at a discount for $13.49 for the closing week of Sony’s Spring Fever 2015. Shovel Knight‘s sale comes in tandem with a Call of Duty sale, and I don’t think you need to ask me where your attention should be.

In addition to the PlayStation release, Xbox Live’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb has confirmed that the Xbox One version will also be available next week.

If you own both consoles, your decision will come down to who you like better? The Battletoads or the God of War, Kratos? Both characters make guests appearances in the separate versions, so which will it be?

Me? I’d go with the Battletoads nine out of ten times, and that last time probably would prevail because I would rather play this on my Vita. Or, you can just buy both and support an excellent indie studio. At any rate, Shovel Knight should be a cherished prize of your collection regardless of your platform of choice.

Be sure to check out Shovel Knight if you haven’t already.
