Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts this week updated retail employees on Apple Watch and MacBook supplies ahead of their official launch this Friday. The 5-minute video address has since been leaked, and you can watch it all below.
Published by French website Mac4Ever, the video once again reiterates Apple’s decision not to offer Apple Watch in store throughout May due to overwhelming pre-order demands that far exceed the company’s current supplies.
“It was not an easy decision, and I think it’s really important to remind every single customer that this is not just a new product for us, this is an entirely new category,” Ahrendts says. “It is the first time that we’ve ever previewed a product two weeks before availability.
“The great news is from anyone who did pre-order, they’ll start getting their orders this Friday.”
Ahrendts also asked retail staff to prepare to help new Apple Watch owners with setting up their devices, and promised weekly updates on Apple Watch supplies.
As for the new Retina MacBook, Ahrendts said it has been one of Apple’s best notebook launched yet. Demand for the gold and space gray models in particular has been “off the charts,” and as things stand, customers who place an order for these machines will be waiting 4-6 weeks for shipping.
Ahrendts also added that Apple Stores that do not currently have MacBooks on display for customers to try out will be receiving them soon.
