Madden NFL 16 touches down on August 25

EA Sports’ Madden NFL franchise is way past old enough to vote and drink. Coming up on its 27th entry, it now needs to think about getting its own health insurance, and maybe moving out finally?

Electronic Arts announced today that Madden NFL 16, currently in development at EA Tiburon, will release on August 26. Platforms are currently unannounced. The previous entry, Madden NFL 15, released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. With both current generation systems selling so quickly, this might be the year one of the biggest sports franchises makes the jump over, either focusing solely on the new platforms or maybe even splitting development of the last-gen version to other studios.

As someone who doesn’t know a thing about football, my biggest concern is whether or not EA can top last year’s amazing Madden NFL 15 commercial.
