Google rolling out Chrome OS update now

by Todd Haselton | April 17, 2015April 17, 2015 6:00 pm PDT

Google announced that it is pushing out a big software update (build 42.0.2311.87) to Chrome OS computers that will add several new features.

One of the big new features worth noting is the addition of voice search and Google Now integration right into the Chrome OS launcher, which means Google’s smart engine with information on weather, traffic, sports scores and more is now just a glance away. Other features include an updated calendar app, support for password protected ZIP files, a Material Design update to the files app and various bug and security fixes.

You should notice a system update notification on your Chrome OS-powered computer alerting you to apply the update, after which you’ll just need to restart the computer to see the changes.
