It seems we can’t go more than a few days without learning about some new upcoming project from Netflix, but this may be the most exciting yet. Variety reports that the streaming giant has ordered an eight-part Planet Earth sequel called Our Planet in Ultra HD 4K quality.

Netflix is teaming up with Silverback Films, the group behind Planet EarthBlue Planet and Frozen Planet, along with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to produce the new series. The four year process promises to show us parts of the world that have never been filmed before, so hopefully it will be worth the wait.

“Netflix is proud to be the global home for perhaps Silverback’s most ambitious project to date,” said Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s VP for original documentaries, comedy programming and content acquisition.

She added that Planet Earth and other documentary programs from Silverback Films have all done very well on Netflix in the past. Teaming up with the company directly is an obvious next step, and we can’t wait to see the results. Unfortunately, the new series won’t be arriving until 2019.
