BlackBerry Leap makes its global debut

BlackBerry on Wednesday announced that the BlackBerry Leap is now officially available to purchase. It will make its debut in the United Kingdom before launching in the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, France and India. BlackBerry also plans to sell it in additional markets and will announce those later.

The BlackBerry Leap was first introduced during Mobile World Congress earlier this year, where we had a chance to check it out first hand. The build is similar to that of earlier all-touch BlackBerry smartphones, such as the BlackBerry Z10. It’s not the most high-end BlackBerry but still offers a few redeeming features, including a 5-inch display, up to 25 hours of battery life, 16GB of storage and an 8-megapixel camera. It also runs BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 which includes support for BlackBerry Blend, BlackBerry Assistant and more.

BlackBerry did not announce pricing for each market though we suspect that information will begin to trickle out as carriers and third party retailers begin to stock it.
