The latest version of Android adds a ton of new features along with a fresh design. One of the biggest additions is lock screen notifications, which are now interactive and customizable. You can decide to see all your notifications, none at all, or hide any that might hold “sensitive” information.
There’s also Smart Lock, which makes it easy to keep your phone unlocked when appropriate. For example, Trusted Device turns off the LG G3’s lock if a synced Android Wear device is nearby. Trusted Places lets you designate certain locations like home or the office as safe, while Trusted Face quickly scans your face to unlock the phone automatically when you turn it on.
You can search in Settings to find the right option quickly. You’ll also start seeing floating action buttons in the G3’s first party apps, which Google introduced as part of Material Design late last year. There’s also a new multitasking view, and the option to pin a specific screen before handing over your phone to a friend. Finally, the LG Health app has been updated with new Goal settings and Distance view.
Verizon should be rolling out the update over the air already, though it could be a day or two before it hits your phone. For now, you can always jump into the Settings menu to see if Android 5.0 Lollipop is already available to download.
