You know how Terminator Genisys looked like a generic action movie about traveling through time and changing the future? Well, it’s still looks like that movie based on the newest trailer, but it’s taking a surprising new direction, one that I had no idea was coming. If you don’t want to spoil the movie for yourself, I suggest you don’t hit play on the trailer above. But if you want to notch up your interest level in Genisys by about 100-percent, check it out: you won’t see it coming.
“I’m not machine. I’m not man. I’m more,” says Jason Clarke, who is playing John Connor.
From what we gather, John Connor underwent some weird experiment that turns him into the ultimate man/machine we see in the trailer. While it’s clear John Connor’s character isn’t just a shouting leader, it’s not exactly clear why he’s suddenly the bad guy. Maybe he was turned into the man/machine Frankenstein monster against his will, although one of his lines seems to suggest it was under his own free will.
Is the entire movie ruined now that such a big plot twist has been unveiled? I hope not. I think it actually makes the movie more interesting. Before, it looked like Arnie would just be doing battle with a T-1000, but it’s clear he’ll have much more to contend with. I know a lot of the story has been revealed, but I’m still very curious to see how this one concludes.
Terminator: Genisys hits theaters on July 1.
