Sprint is today launching a new program that gives existing customers the opportunity to have their smartphone upgrade hand-delivered to their door by a Sprint representative. It’s called Direct 2 You, and it’s absolutely free.
Not only will a Sprint rep deliver your phone, but they’ll also help you set it up and migrate your contacts, photos, videos, and more from your old device. They’ll even value your old phone and buy it from you in the form of bill credit.
Direct 2 You reps will meet you wherever is convenient — at your home, office, or even at a coffee shop — and at a time to suit you, so you no longer have to wait in all day to get your new phone.
For now, Direct 2 You is only available in Kansas City, but Sprint hopes to put 5,000 Direct 2 You cars in major metropolitan areas by the end of 2015. The cars and representatives will actually be provided by a third-party, but they’ll carry Sprint’s logo and branding.
Sprint says it’s launching Direct 2 You as a result of customer research and “insights that clearly indicated the need for a revolutionary service like this one.” It is the only carrier to deliver a service like this, and best of all, it’s completely free for existing customers.
“We’re constantly listening to our customers, and we learn from them what they want in a great wireless phone experience so that we can remove their pain points,” said Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure. “As a result, we created Sprint Direct 2 You, a whole new way of buying wireless.”
Direct 2 You will also serve new Sprint customers starting this September. On April 20, the service will expand to Chicago and Miami, but you can expect to see it nationwide before the end of the year.
