Grand Theft Auto V on PC unlocks by dinner time tonight, US gamers

Get your bodies (and gaming PCs) ready: Rockstar Games has announced the unlock time for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V.

That’s right. If you’ve pre-loaded Grand Theft Auto V, you’ll be ready to play it by dinner time if you live in the United States. If you’ve already downloaded all 65 gigabytes, then all you have to do is wait. If you haven’t, get started now.

Game unlock times are often a point of misery for gamers. Game unlocks have frequently been linked to midnight in a particular timezone – usually Pacific. Where players in California would be playing a game right at midnight alongside those who’d attended a midnight launch, those in New York would be stuck waiting until 3 A.M. Eastern time for the game to unlock.

If you had a late night of gaming planned for release day, buying a hard copy had a tangible benefit. That’s starting to fade away, and it’s good to see games like Grand Theft Auto getting a universal unlock time and, better yet, one that serves a huge portion of their customers.
