Today’s not just about the Apple Watch. The new MacBook is also hitting stores, and you won’t have to wait until April 24 to get your hands on the redesigned laptop. Most models ship in 1-3 business days, though several variants will mean waiting for an extra three or four weeks.
Specifically, the gold MacBook comes with a delay, while silver and space gray models are available now. It’s unclear if that means the golden laptop is an early favorite, or Apple simply failed to produce enough stock. Either way, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for the company’s first gold-colored MacBook.
Upgrading from the standard 1.1GHz Core M processor to a 1.3GHz chip will also push back the MacBook’s shipping date a few extra weeks. On Apple’s site the company notes that “this customized Mac takes a bit longer to build,” suggesting the it doesn’t expect many customers to opt for a more expensive processor. Switching the keyboard to anything besides English also adds a 3-4 week delay, at least here in the U.S.
It’s possible the gold MacBook could still be in-stock at some Apple Stores, though the only way to find out is to see for yourself. We called a few around Manhattan last night and were told units would be in stock on Friday, though as of this morning it appears supply is already running out. As for the 1.3GHz variant, that means an extra wait.
Thankfully, most other models are available now, at least online, leaving plenty of options for anyone who needs to get their hands on Apple’s latest laptop as soon as possible.
