Could a retailer have just spoiled yet another remaster’s upcoming announcement? That looks like it could be the case if this rumor regarding the Uncharted franchise proves true.
Swiss retailer CeDe has listed a PlayStation 4 edition of the “Uncharted Trilogy HD Edition.” What’s more, the set has a Sept. 30 release date on the site.
The retailer uses fake boxart for the display. Presumably gamers will be able to look forward to remastered editions of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Each game released on the PlayStation 3, and they represent some of the best efforts of the generation.
Now, I normally would label these rumors as nothing more than misinformation. However, given the fact that the new generation has been a series of massive remasters and re-releases, I totally see this as possible. Heck, Sony just put out The Last of Us in remastered form. Then we have the likes of GTA V, Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs and most recently Dark Souls II.
This Uncharted trilogy remaster especially makes sense because of how much of the Xbox 360 fan base Sony snapped up with the PlayStation 4. It now has a pile of gamers with a PlayStation console who have never played an Uncharted game. Why not release a remaster?
We’ll have more on this as it comes. In the meantime, flip through the gallery in the middle of this post of my favorite Uncharted game, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
