DriveClub’s “major” server update will take game offline for 8 hours

Evolution Studios is set to roll out what it’s calling “major updates” to the DriveClub servers today. They will, apparently, “improve performance and stability for all aspects of online play” for the game.

The word comes from the studio’s official Facebook page for DriveClub. It’s in that update that they outline the timeline for the update.

The servers will be unavailable from 11am BST while this happens and the work is expected to take up to 8hrs. You can still play the game offline during this time.

Apologies for any inconvenience this causes and thank you for your patience while we continue working to improve the game.

11am BST is 6am ET, so that means this update is already underway. As the post says, it could run for as long as 8 hours. The good news for most is that gamers will likely be at work or school for the duration of the patch.

Evolution made no indication that this was the case, but some are assuming this massive series of server updates is happening in preparation for the still unreleased PlayStation Plus version of DriveClub. Hopefully that’s the case.

We’ll have more on DriveClub as it comes.
