Razer Forge Android TV box pre-orders now live on Amazon

The Razer Forge streaming box, powered by Android TV, is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The device was first introduced back during CES 2015 following the introduction of Android TV during Google I/O last June. .

The device will no doubt compete with another gaming-focus Android TV-powered box, the NVIDIA Shield, especially with its gaming focus. It’s similar to the SHIELD in that you can stream PC games to your set-top box and play them with up to four people using Bluetooth controllers.

However, it doesn’t offer NVIDIA’s GRID streaming game service — which provides a Netflix-style option to stream games that are powered by NVIDIA’s own servers. Instead, you’ll need your own gaming rig with either an AMD or NVIDIA graphics chip to do the legwork. That will also require a special Cortex app for Windows, which we presume will be available by launch.

The $149 Razer Forge bundle includes a single controller and the set-top box to get things started. You’ll also be able to browse the Google Play Store and download movies, Android games and more — in addition to the streaming capabilities the box offers. You can expect it to ship on May 1. Hit the button below to pre-order yours now.
