HTC on Thursday announced a new version of last year’s One M8 – yes, you read that correctly, it’s a version of last year’s phone – named the One M8s. It’s offering a more affordable spin on the 2014 phone with the same industrial design.
The One M8s packs the same 5-inch 1080p display as the One M8 but includes an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor in place of the Snapdragon 801 chip that shipped in last year’s phone. It also packs a 13-megapixel Duo Camera instead of the Ultrapixel shooter on last year’s phone.
You’ll also find 16GB of onboard storage that can be expanded using a microSD card, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, a 2,840mAh battery, Android 5.0 Lollipop, NFC and Bluetooth 4.1. It runs Sense 6 out of the box instead of this year’s Sense 7 user interface.
The One M8s will launch in Europe and will start at a price of £379.99 SIM-free in the U.K.
