First gen Moto X, Moto E and Moto G LTE to get Android 5.1

Moto G - Liveblog - 2013 - Windy Day - 017

A Motorola executive provided some good news to owners of the original Moto X, the Moto E and the Moto G with LTE support. Motorola’s director of product software David Schuster said on Google+ recently that all three phones will be upgraded directly to Android 5.1 Lollipop.

“As some of you might know, we’ve been testing Lollipop 5.0.2 upgrades on Moto X (1st Gen), Moto E (1st Gen) and Moto G 4G LTE (1st Gen) in several regions,” Schuster said. “In parallel, we have started testing Lollipop 5.1 which was recently released by Google. Given the improvements in Lollipop 5.1, we have decided to move all efforts to upgrade these devices directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1.”

You should be pretty excited if you own one of those aforementioned devices. Android 5.1 fixes a lot of bugs that were present in earlier versions of Android Lollipop, and includes new security features, in addition to other functions.

Nice move, Motorola.
