OnePlus said it would enter a new product category in April and today the company delivered. The DR-1 is a tiny $20 drone that’s unfortunately already sold out of its limited edition run. And no this isn’t a joke, at least not entirely.
The new pocket-sized 70mm wingspan drone isn’t designed to compete with more popular models. It doesn’t even include a camera, which OnePlus says it cut from the design to bring down the device’s weight. Instead, the company promises a speedy flying machine that’s easy to control in the air, whether you want to do flips or just soar as high as possible.
The DR-1 packs four flexible blades, a gyroscopic stabilization system, LED lights, and QuickCharge technology will bring the battery back up to 100 percent in just 20 minutes. It also comes with an ergonomic controller.
For $20, this OnePlus Drone could be a good way to test the waters without a big financial commitment. It’s too bad the device sold out so fast, though there’s always hope the company will offer another run. Until then, a quick Internet search pulls up plenty of other options in the same general price range.
