It hasn’t been smooth sailing for OnePlus One owners waiting for the release of CyanogenMod 12S. After being promised they’d see something at the end of March, we’ve quietly crossed into April, and still the update hasn’t been pushed out. Why? Certification issues. The same reason Oxygen OS has been delayed.
OnePlus shared a few small updates on its site to let fans know that CM12 is still on the way, but it likely won’t be out for at least another few days. As of April 1, OnePlus had this to say about the update:
Unfortunately, we don’t have a meaningful update today, and probably won’t for the next few days as we wait for certification. I’ll update this post as soon as I hear back from our partner.
This, I’m sad to say, isn’t a cruel April Fools’ joke, which means you’ll have to wait a little while longer before getting your hands on the Lollipop update. As for Oxygen OS, OnePlus says the software is in the same boat—“Waiting to hear back from our partner.”
That partner (Cyanogen) has said to fans in a rather impudent way that the updates will be ready when they’re ready. So while we don’t have any real date of when to expect CM12 (or Oxygen OS) to hit, hopefully we can expect them fairly soon since they’re going through certification.
Only five months after Lollipop was released.
