On Thursday it appeared that OnePlus was going to miss its scheduled Friday release date for OxygenOS. Now the company has confirmed that it is indeed missing the intended rollout schedule, and has apologized for the delay by following up on a promise to gift five lucky folks with OnePlus One units.

OnePlus head of mobile product Helen wrote an apology in the company’s forums on Friday. “The ROM is fully functional and we have quite a few people in the office running it on their own devices without any issues,” Helen explained. “The delay is caused by extra quality control. We want to make sure that OxygenOS passes Google certification, that all future updates can be OTA’ed properly, and that users from all over the world are able to use OxygenOS in the language of their choice.”

Helen promised that she will update her post daily with a progress report on the impending release of OxygenOS, which suggests that it’s not going to roll out in the coming days, either. Helen could only promise that the release is “very soon.”

It’s a bummer OxygenOS isn’t rolling out as planned, but at least Helen and team are following up on a promise to give away five OnePlus One units as an apology for missing the delay. Did you win? Hit the source to find out.
