Halo Online in Russia

Halo is getting another crack at the PC platform, though probably not in a way that you’d expect.

343 Industries announced Halo Online today. It’s launching in closed beta form in Russia, is exclusive to the PC platform and is a free-to-play game.

Strange, right?

Here’s the deal. Halo Online was made with a modified version of the Halo 3 engine, and it was “optimized for smooth performance on lower-end PCs.” It has no campaign mode. This is strictly a Spartan vs. Spartan affair.

343, Saber Interactive and Innova Systems are hosting the Halo Online closed beta in order to adjust gameplay, features and the game’s economy. 343 posted the following FAQ alongside the announcement.
