Facebook Messenger Platform brings other apps into your mobile chat

As expected, Facebook officially announced Messenger Platform today during its F8 developer conference. The new feature makes it possible to use other apps from inside Facebook Messenger.

You’ll be able to pick from a list of supported apps from inside Messenger just like you pick from packs of digital stickers. Once you find the app you want, you can jump straight to the app store to download it. For example, Giphy for Messenger makes it easy to search out the perfect GIF and send it to a friend without ever leaving Facebook Messenger.

Messenger Platform is launching with a ton of partners, including ESPN and a special effects app designed by J.J. Abrams. In total over 40 apps will be available in the next few days.
