Amazon Fire TV Stick arrives in the U.K., just £7 for new Prime subscribers

Amazon Fire TV Stick-1

Amazon’s Fire TV Stick has today been made available to customers in the U.K., and it costs just £7 (approx. $10) for new Prime subscribers who place their order before 9 a.m. local time on Thursday, March 26.

The Fire TV Stick is Amazon’s answer to the Chromecast — a thumb-sized dongle that plugs into an HDMI port on your TV to provide you with access to all kinds of digital content. But it doesn’t just receive media streamed from your mobile devices.

Fire TV Stick can also access numerous services independently, including Amazon’s own Prime Instant Video — which is included with Prime at no extra cost — plus Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Sky News, Spotify, and more.

If you order the Fire TV Stick before 9 a.m. on Thursday, and you sign up to Prime — which costs £79 a year — at the same time, it’ll cost you just £7. If you’re already a Prime subscriber, it’ll cost you £19 (approx. $28.40).

After 9 a.m. on Thursday, Fire TV Stick will be priced at £35 (approx. $52). The official U.K. launch date for the device is April 15, and Amazon says pre-orders will be shipped on this date.

When Fire TV Stick began shipping in the U.S. last November, it became the “fastest selling Amazon device ever,” according to the retail giant’s senior vice president of device, David Limp. We think it’s a great little device for the price, but if you’re not completely happy with it, Amazon promises a full refund if you return it within 30 days.
