Mission Impossible 5 gets its first action-packed trailer

The most Mission Impossible-y trailer of all time has been released, and it contains pretty much everything you’d want from a Tom Cruise movie: shirtless Tom Cruise, Tom Cruise running around, Tom Cruise doing insane stunts, and Tom Cruise otherwise proving he can still do his thing as Ethan Hunt. I have no issue with the release of this movie being pushed up.

Here’s the thing about Mission Impossible: it has evolved into a more stylized, over-the-top version of its earlier self, and it’s better of for it. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think it was a James Bond flick, and that’s the best compliment we can give it. In Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, the goal here is to outdo Ghost Protocol, which came out back in 2011. And, from what we’ve seen, it certainly has the potential to do that!

Rogue Nation centers on the Syndicate, a mysterious group of individuals apparently tasked with taking out members of the IMF. But Hunt has other ideas, and decides to hitch a ride on the outside of an airplane because he is a crazy mofo. Cruise actually did that stunt, by the way, either proving how insane he is or how much we should cherish his dedication.

Rogue Nation also stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Alec Baldwin, and is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2015. Is it me, or is 2015 shaping up to be a tremendously exciting year for action movies?
