Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden Japanese TV spot, over 100 characters

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is the latest fighting game featuring the Dragon Ball universe, and much like this year’s surprising Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Bandai Namco is looking to add a little twist to the simple tournament fighter formula.

Guilty Gear developer Arc System Works has been tasked with creating a Nintendo 3DS fighting game with over 100 characters, although, most of them will prove to just be support characters. Still, it’s a tough job, no doubt. A new TV spot showing off the game’s gameplay for the first time features Goku and Vegeta duking it out with one another. That’s pretty standard, right?

And then they are joined by the likes of King Kai, The Great Saiyanamn, Videl, Mr. Satan, Bulma, Lunch, Super Android 17, Yajirobe, and even Master Roshi’s pet turtle! They flood the screen with their battle animations, completely disrupting the fight! Who the heck are these people, and what are they doing here in the fight? The commercial itself asks, “What the heck kind of battles are these going to be?”

We won’t have to wait too long to find out. Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden will be released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS on June 11. With over 100 characters, maybe us Chiaotzu fans will feel the love we miss in Xenoverse.
